Recording Guidelines
To maintain high-quality audio and video in our podcast, please consult our recommended recording guidelines.
Please be sure arrive a 5-10 minutes early so we can confirm that we everything is working properly.
Microphone
Use a USB or XLR Microphone: Our preference is a USB or XLR microphone instead of built-in laptop microphones.
Recording Space
Quiet Space: Record in a quiet environment with minimal background noise or interruptions. Choose a room with soft furnishings to reduce echoes and ambient sounds. Turn off fans before recording.
Close Windows and Doors: Close windows and doors to block out external noises like traffic, wind, or birds.
Microphone Placement
Proximity: Most microphones sound best about 6-12 inches away from the mouth. This helps capture their voice clearly while reducing popping sounds.
Mic Angling: The microphone should be angled slightly downwards, pointing towards the corner of the guest's mouth.
Recording Software
Recording Software: We will send you a link for our online recording environment.
Internet: For remote recordings, a high speed internet connection is required. If at a residence, ensure there aren’t other users streaming large video/audio files while recording.
Connection and Equipment Check
Prior to recording, we will do a quick test to ensure their microphone is working correctly and that the recording levels are set appropriately.
